Procurou-se responder, por de uma pesquisa qualitativa à luz da sociologia e da psicologia social, à pergunta: o que revelam as narrativas de professores sobre a escassez de docentes de matemática nesse município? Os depoentes responderam questões abertas de duas entrevistas em profundidade. Os dados produzidos foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo segundo Bardin (2016) e permitiram compreender a relação entre a política clientelista e a escassez de professores de matemática em Corrente.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This study analyzes the relationship between politics and the scarcity of licensed math teachers in Corrente, a town in Piauí State, Brazil. Anchored on qualitative research in the light of sociology and social psychology, we aim to answer the question: what do the narratives of teachers reveal about the scarcity of math teachers in this town? The interviewees answered the open questions in two in-depth interviews. Then, we conducted a content analysis on the responses, according to Bardin (2016), which allowed us to understand the relationship between clientelist politics and the scarcity of math teachers in Corrente.]]></p></abstract>

Intentamos responder, a través de una investigación cualitativa a la luz de la sociología y la psicología social, la pregunta: ¿qué revelan las narrativas de los profesores sobre la escasez de profesores de matemáticas en este municipio? Los entrevistados respondieron preguntas abiertas de dos entrevistas en profundidad. Los datos producidos fueron sometidos a análisis de contenido según Bardin (2016) y permitieron comprender la relación entre la política clientelista y la escasez de profesores de matemáticas en Corrente.]]></p></abstract>
