Manuel de Portugal, relatos da viagem de Cristóvão Colombo de 1492 e a obra Utopia de Thomas Morus (1515), na perspectiva de um arranjo que nos permitisse compreender o contexto em que Paulo Freire atuou e como este brasileiro chegou a elaborar uma concepção de educação, ao mesmo tempo possível, necessária e utópica, afastando-se da ruptura e da guerra. Verificamos uma matriz utópica, principalmente nos textos que consideramos como nascedouros de sua pedagogia, Educação como prática de liberdade e Pedagogia do Oprimido: De lá pra cá, nestes 50 anos, passamos de um Brasil com 50 % de pessoas não alfabetizadas para um país com menos de 10% de não alfabetizados, muito temos que caminhar.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The text presents a reflection on aspects of the utopian dimension of Freire educational thought, by examining the direct references on the topic of utopia found in the author's work and other documents such as the famous Letter from Pero Vaz de Caminha to King D. Manuel from Portugal, accounts of the voyage of Christopher Columbus of 1492 and the work Utopia by Thomas Morus (1515), in the perspective of an arrangement that would allow us to understand the context in which Paulo Freire worked and how this Brazilian came to develop a concept of education, at the same time possible, necessary and utopian, moving away from rupture and war. We verified a utopian matrix, mainly in the texts that we consider as the originators of his pedagogy, Education as a practice of freedom and Pedagogy of the oppressed. Since then, in these 50 years, we have moved from a Brazil with 50% illiterate people to a Brazil with less than 10% illiterate people. We have a lot to walk.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Este texto presenta una reflexión sobre aspectos de la dimensión utópica del pensamiento educativo de Freire, examinando las referencias directas sobre el tema de la utopía encontradas en la obra del autor y otros documentos, como la famosa Carta de Pero Vaz de Caminha al Rey D. Manuel de Portugal, relatos del viaje de Cristóbal Colón de 1492 y la obra Utopía de Thomas Morus (1515), en la perspectiva de un ordenamiento que nos permitiera comprender el contexto en el que trabajaba Paulo Freire y cómo este brasileño llegó a desarrollar un concepto de educación, a la vez posible, necesaria y utópica, alejándose de la ruptura y la guerra. Verificamos una matriz utópica, principalmente en los textos que consideramos como creadores de su pedagogía, La educación como práctica de la libertad y la Pedagogía de los oprimidos. Desde entonces, en estos 50 años, nos hemos mudado de un Brasil con 50% de analfabetos, a un Brasil con menos del 10% de analfabetos. Tenemos mucho que caminar.]]></p></abstract>
