This article aims to analyze the process of organizing public secondary education at the Ginásio Paraense, in Belém-PA, from 1930 to 1937. Methodologically, it is a documental and bibliographical research. To understand this process, a diversity of sources was gathered, such as teaching legislation, government messages and newspapers. The authors of this study are Dallabrida (2009), Nunes (2000), Silva (2018), Souza (2008), Pessanha (2015), among others. It is the first public, created in Belém- PA in 1841, and over the years has become a reference for secondary studies in the northern region of Brazil. In 1937, was the only one in the region to offer the secondary and complementary courses. A place of diffusion of scientific and literary knowledge.
