This paper aims to analyze aspects related to the values and political participation, developed by teachers, when writing thematic projects related to solid wastes. The analysis shows a moment in the process that in-service teachers faced while planning to teach contents related to environmental issues, and particularly solid wastes. We point out that teachers frequently do not recognize the limits of the knowledge dimension, and that probably makes it difficult for them to perceive the possibilities of developing the dimensions of ethical values and political participation in their environmental education practice. We analyze these two dimensions in some highlighted aspects from the results.
