Affirmative Policies and the training of researchers: from Scientific Initiation to Post-Graduation

The silencing and invisibility barriers imposed on scientific production in peripheral spaces are reproduced in the lack of representativeness of a large part of the population in Science. People from peripheral regions, blacks, quilombolas and indigenous people remain absent or invisible in the body of researchers. Considering Scientific Initiation as the initial space for training researchers, this work sought to analyze the contributions of Affirmative Policies, from the PIBIC-AF on the initial training of researchers and their possible repercussions up to Post-Graduation. Data from PIBIC-AF graduates, extracted using the ScriptLattes tool, provide answers to the constant hesitation regarding the performance of quota students. Statistical parity was observed between the PIBIC and the PIBIC-AF with regard to the conclusion of strict sensu Post-Graduation. The results prove the potential of the PIBIC-AF, but the detailing of the data at the Doctorate level point to a long journey towards equity, and encounters as obstacles the delay in affirmative actions in Post-Graduation and the small number of scholarships allocated to the program.
