ETHICS IN TEACHING: literature review

The article presents an analysis of 58 works by Brazilian authors that address ethics in teaching (1992-2022). The papers were classified into the following categories: a) Teaching ethics and training for teaching; b) Teaching ethics and socio-educational practices; c) Code or commitments of teaching ethics; d) Teaching ethics and curricular issues; and e) Teaching ethics and dilemmas. It was concluded that: a) the topic ethics in teaching in Brazil has been little addressed in initial and continuing education; b) the dilemmas faced by teachers are still unknown; c) there are several demands for training institutions in relation to ethical education of the future; and d) the concepts of integrity and research integrity contribute to the analysis of the teaching ethics. From authors who discuss ethical-onto-epistemology, the article argues that ethics in teaching is one of the structuring elements of the training process and needed to be included in the inicial and continuos teacher education.
