Abstract

PRESTES, Zoia. The sociology of childhood and the cultural-historical theory: some considerations. R. Educ. Públ. [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.49, suppl.01, pp.295-304. ISSN 2238-2097.

The article presents some considerations about criticism that the childhood sociologist W. Corsaro makes the ideas of L. S. Vygotsky in his book Sociology of childhood. By presenting some criticism of the interpretation Corsaro makes on some basic concepts of Vygotsky’s theory, the text also brings up and discusses issues caused by mistranslations. An example is the concept Zone Blijaichego Razvitia. Finally, are highlighted divergent points between the sociology of childhood and the cultural-historical theory that deserve further analysis in future academic research.

Keywords : Sociology of Childhood; Cultural-Historical Theory; Zone Blijaichego Razvitia.
