This paper aims to analyze the organizational, claiming, and ideological particularities of teacher unionism in the municipal public sphere, revealing its contradictions under the light of a revolutionary perspective. Based on the theoretical-methodological referential of Historical-dialectical Materialism, the research analyzed three union entities that correspond to the three forms of teaching organization located in the Southeast region of the state of Paraná, Brazil: own regional union of teachers, union section of the state union and union of the municipal civil servants. Based on the documents of the entities, interviews with the leaders, and questionnaires applied to the teachers, it was concluded that, despite the organizational particularities (low number of affiliates and municipal struggles), the particularities of union awareness (meritocratic awareness) and the claiming particularities (approximation with education policies), the mobilization of the category tends to happen through claims related to remuneration.
