World hunger from the perspective of members of the Pedagogical Residency Program: contributions from Critical Mathematics Education

The qualitative study whose objective is to identify, from the perspective of the advisor and the preceptor of a Pedagogical Residency Program, dialogues between a project developed with sixth-grade classes in a public school, focused on the theme of world hunger, and the principles of Critical Mathematics Education (CME). The stages of the project were analyzed in light of discussions in CME, which seeks to train students to develop a critical view of the society in which they live and to think about possibilities for transforming it. This process gave rise to some significant dialogues between the project and CME, especially those related to the exploration of Mathematics beyond calculation, the type of communication established in Mathematics classes, and the practices of reading and writing about the world mediated by Mathematics.
