Education (Santa Maria. Online) is aimed at students, teachers and researchers in the field of education, as well as the general public interested in this field. The journal has been published since 1970, initially in paper form and twice a year, with approximately 51 articles per year. Electronic publication began in 2000. At present, it is a continuous electronic journal. The journal publishes only original and unpublished works in the field of education, resulting from scientific research and theoretical reflections on educational practices and policies. Articles may be published in Portuguese, English and Spanish and, exceptionally, articles may be published in Italian, French and German.

Short title: Education.

The mission of the journal Education (Santa Maria. Online) is to publicize studies and research  results that highlight the state of knowledge produced in the field of education. In this sense, it offers subsidies to enlarge the academic horizon, fomenting debate and discussions regarding the educational field, with a view to reorganize the multiple aspects implied on the academic research field and educational practices.
