INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Instructions for authors

ETD – Educação Temática Digital aims to publish articles, communications, experience reports, dossiers, research papers, essays, and reviews of books and digital productions relevant to education and related fields.

In order to promote the widest possible plurality of perspectives, ETD has established a policy requiring a minimum interval of 12 months between two publications by the same author or co-author. Submission of a manuscript to ETD implies that it has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere.

If the article to be submitted derives from a thesis or dissertation, this information must be indicated in a footnote. Example: This paper is derived from a master’s thesis/doctoral dissertation.

For submission, at least one of the authors must hold a doctoral degree. In the case of reviews, postgraduate students are allowed to submit manuscripts.

The maximum number of authors per article is seven (7).

All authors must have an ORCID registration. The link for access and registration is https://orcid.org.

Please note that the editorial process will begin only in February for submissions made between November and January.

Manuscripts submitted to the various sections of the journal are first assessed through a desk review by members of the Editorial Committee, and may or may not be sent to ad hoc reviewers under the double-blind peer review system. When revisions or corrections are suggested, manuscripts are returned to the authors. Publication implies the full transfer of copyright, in all languages, to the School of Education, University of Campinas (Unicamp).

After approval, authors must submit their manuscripts to grammatical revision by a professional with expertise in the field, whose full name must appear in an endnote. The respective costs are the responsibility of the authors.

The editors reserve the right to make editorial changes or cuts to accepted papers in order to conform to the journal’s style guidelines, while respecting the author’s style and the original content.

Manuscripts must be submitted directly through the journal’s online system. Submissions sent by any other means will not be accepted. Any information that may identify the authors or their institutions must be removed from the file, including metadata in the document properties. For inquiries, contact: etd@unicamp.br.

ETD – Educação Temática Digital accepts submissions in Portuguese, English, or Spanish for all sections. Manuscripts must be typed in Word (.doc) format, using the ETD template as the structural reference for article formatting.

Template (article structure)

The text must have a minimum of 5 pages and a maximum of 20 pages, including notes and references. Manuscripts outside this range will be automatically rejected.

In direct quotations, authors, year, and page must be specified. All quotations from works in other languages must be translated into Portuguese; the inclusion of the original passage in a footnote is optional.

Authors should highlight terms or expressions in the text using ‘single quotes’, “double quotes”, or bold type.

Illustrations

Tables, figures, drawings, illustrations, and charts must appear within the text, following the indications in the template. Scanned images must have a minimum resolution of 600 dpi (real, not interpolated), at their original size, and be saved in JPEG format in RGB color mode. Photographs or slides must have at least 2,500 dpi (real, not interpolated). Tables must be submitted in Word files; charts and spreadsheets in Excel files, always including titles and sources. Images should not be inserted directly into Word documents, as this compromises resolution quality. Materials from digital cameras must have a minimum optical resolution of 3 megapixels, without compression (high definition mode).

All images must be numbered and accompanied by captions and source information. Labeling must follow this format:

FIGURE (in uppercase), followed by sequential numbering and title separated by a hyphen.
Example: FIGURE 1 – Restored classroom. The figure title must appear above the image.
The Source must appear below the image, with full information (author, title, date, etc.) and, if from the internet, the link and access date. Example: Source: Prepared by the author.

CHARTS (Quadros) should also appear above the illustration. Example: Chart 1 – The structure of the school.

TABLES should include a header explaining the data presented, placed above the table, following IBGE table standards.

Title - The article title must appear in the original language and be accompanied by its translations into English and Spanish, reflecting the content of the paper.

Abstract - Articles must include an abstract in the main language and translations into English and Spanish, each with a maximum of 250 words.

Keywords - Authors must provide up to five keywords in the main language and their translations into English and Spanish, accurately representing the content of the article.

Notes - Notes should be kept to a minimum and numbered consecutively within the text as footnotes.

Instructions for preparing references

All titles and cited documents must be listed at the end of the article under the heading References, without distinction between books, journals, documents, etc. The formatting standards adopted are ABNT NBR 6023/2002 and NBR 10520/2023.

Note: In references, use bold for the title (subtitles should not be bold), instead of underlining or italics (NBR-6023:2002).
