The História da Educação journal is maintained by the Associação Sul-Rio-Grandense de Pesquisadores em História da Educação - Asphe, with the support of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Federal University of Santa Maria and the Federal University of Pelotas.

It has been published in Brazil since 1997. The topic it covers is the field of History of Education and its mission is to be a vehicle for the dissemination of studies in historiography of education. It aims mainly at disseminating the results of research done by teachers and undergraduate and graduate students, and its target public is teachers, students, researchers and people interested in history of education.

História da Educação was the first Brazilian journal specialized in this field. The inaugural issue was published on April 28, 1997, on the occasion of the first meeting of the Associação Sul-Rio-Grandense de Pesquisadores em História da Educação - Asphe, which took place in São Leopoldo/RS.

The short title of the journal, to be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographical references is Hist. Educ. (Online).

História da Educação uses Creative Commons attribution 3.0 for open access, Open Archives Initiative (OAI), green road category to transfer rights. 

Open access means making something freely available on the Internet, so that the users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, research or reference the complete text of the documents, process them for indexation, use them as program input data for software's, or use them for any other legal purpose, without a financial, legal or technical barrier.
