Abstract

LINS, Maria Judith Sucupira da Costa. Avaliação da escolarização de crianças com deficiência física: interação sócio-cultural na escola. Ensaio: aval. pol. públ. educ. [online]. 1997, vol.05, n.17, pp.535-553. ISSN 0104-4036.

This paper is not specifically a study about the question of a child with physical deficiency, but it is about this child as a student in an ordinary school with learning disabilities according to his (her) deficiency. The purpose is to show how important for the child is to be accepted by the school as someone who is different and because of this learns in a different speed. Through an argumentation based in different author who have studied the child's development, and a/so the cultural psychology and the theories of learning, we have tried to emphasize how important is for this child to be in a class with ordinary students. We insist on the observation of the other factors of development instead of the emphasis on the curriculum subjects for each school year; in order to permit that a child with learning disabilities could go on in school. The evaluation of this different child must be different. The evaluation doesn't hove the purpose of a measure of performance in order to promote or not the child to the next school year. In this paper we give also on emphasis to the family’s role as a basic factor for the disabled children's development, but the main subject of this paper is the social-cultural interaction in school. Final/y we suggest that the school must have a better understanding in case of disabled children, in order to promote the best development of the child's other potentialities.
