Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Renato José de. Right of education: na athical-political issue. Cad. Pesqui. [online]. 1996, n.98, pp.64-71. ISSN 0100-1574.

This article discusses the right of education and its relations with different ethical-political engagements assumed by men in certain historical contexts. Kant's proposition which takes education as a way of guiding man from nature to freedom is analysed and contrasted with the dichotomy between the formation of man as a generic being and his formation as an ordinary man, exposed to many forms of discrimination. The author also intends to show that nowadays it is important to defend the right of having a pluralistic education based on new ethical-political engagements, able to permit the surpassing of traditional ethical values (which clearly fix the difference between good and evil) as well as the surpassing of axiological relativism

Keywords : Direito à Educação; Ética; Política; Discriminação; Pluralismo.
