Abstract

STURMER, Ingrid Ertel  and  THOMA, Adriana da Silva. Discourses that have produced bilingual education for the deaf. Rev. Inter Ação [online]. 2015, vol.40, n.3, pp.573-589. ISSN 0101-7136.  https://doi.org/10.5216/ia.v40i3.36489.

Which discourses have produced bilingual education for the deaf in the Brazilian scenario? In order to problematize this issue, we have examined some documents produced by the Ministry of Education and the National Association for Deaf Education and Integration addressing the bilingual education for the deaf. The notion of discourse by Michel Foucault (2013), for whom discourses produce practices, has been used as our theoretical-methodological tool. In our analyses, we have attempted to evidence the power-knowledge relations involved in discourses that constitute the analyzed documents and the specific ways of thinking about deaf schooling that have been produced from the meanings of bilingual education spread by those documents.

Keywords : Discourses; Bilingual Education; Deaf; Educational Policies.
