Abstract

In this article is discussed the evaluation practice from the analysis of the results of the collected data by means of questionnaires about evaluation and institutional evaluation, applied to the academic community, that permitted us measure the level of information that is beyond the evaluation process. In the first step, the students' information about evaluation and institutional evaluation were analyzed separately to determine the academics' expectation. After that, the data were crossed to locate the evaluation process at the students' universe. The results contributed, exceedingly, to put into checkmate some attitudes that show the problems -that remain from the traditional evaluation - that permeate the universe of the institutional evaluation and interfere at its practice. Based in these considerations, it was observed the need of define, c1early, the functions and objectives of the institutional evaluation to everybody involved in the process, giving flexibility to the actions to correct distortions that make part of the students' imaginary.
