This papers evaluates Telecurso 2000, an extension of formal schooling program implemented in a steel production Company Belgo Mineira in the sate of Minas Gerais. The allegedly fundamental role played by educational extension was evaluated through its impact on the workers professional careers. The workers reported improvements in their professional skills and also some positive effects on self-esteem which reflected in their work environment and family lives. It concludes that the extension programs not only have positive returns to employers but also to the employees who collect the benefits of more education for themselves.
