The present investigation focuses on the perspective that the presence of faculty renewal in teacher training programs demands a closer look at the admission process and work conditions, practices and institutional support as founding factors for the professionalism of pre-service teachers. The study focuses on the direct relationship between the working conditions and the professional training of professors who have began their career in higher education. We endeavored, therefore, to identify possible harmful factors and/or the establishment of new professional aspects of professors who work at different private and public teaching training programs. Data was collected from six professors from these institutions through interviews. We identified harmful factors concerning professionalism, such as intensification, precariousness and individualization of work, along with constitutive factors of professionalism based on ethical, social and cultural commitments and particularly in pursuit of learning from teaching from conflicts and contradictions in the classroom.
