Abstract

SANTOS, Emina  and  TOME, Luane. The absent speech of democracy on the base nacional comum curriculum of fundamental education. J. Pol. Educ-s [online]. 2020, vol.14, pp.-.  Epub May 06, 2024. ISSN 1981-1969.  https://doi.org/10.5380/ipe.vl4i0.70242.

This paper aims to understand how the social function of the school as a formation space for democracy is conceived in the Common National Curriculum Base (BNCC) of elementary school. The research is characterized as documentary in nature and investigates how the concept of democracy is established as a principle for the implementation and guarantee of a democratizing school space. We found that the articulation of the contents of the document with principles of democratic management are superficial and inconsistent in the Base. In this sense, it is indicated that democracy is presented as a vague concept and with weak argumentation in the text, rather than being worked as a social construct.

Keywords : BNCC; Social Function of the School; Democratizing Space.
