Abstract

SILVA, Maria da Conceição de Moura  and  HOJAS, Viviani Fernanda. Teacher appreciation policies in the public school system in Rio Branco/Acre. J. Pol. Educ-s [online]. 2021, vol.15, e78438.  Epub Sep 06, 2021. ISSN 1981-1969.  https://doi.org/10.5380/jpe.v14i0.78438.

This article presents results of a master's research that aimed to analyze the educational policies of (un) valorization of teachers in the early years of elementary school introduced in the public school system in Rio Branco / Acre since 2005. The research was structured in stages that are interconnected, namely: building a theoretical support by reading various publications related to the valuation of education professionals; and gathering, systematizing and analyzing federal, state and municipal laws and documents dealing with the subject. Initially, attention turned to educational policies of a more general character introduced in the public school system of the municipality and, subsequently, to those policies that have a closer relationship with the issue of valuing teachers in the early years of elementary school. The investigation showed that, when taken as a whole, municipal policies have a contradictory character and do not necessarily represent an advance towards teacher appreciation, given that the implementation of some of them is linked to the performance results of schools and students.
