This paper attempts to establish some conceptual bases for the foundation of IEAT (Institute for Advanced Transdis-ciplinary Studies, of Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais). The text has an academic policy and epistemological bias. On working with these two concepts and defining the parameters for the functioning of IEAT, it is believed that university research teams will find in this paper the guiding references forintroducing thei proposals on applying for the support of the Institute in their different fields of interest.
