In this article, we present some reflections on the experience of collective guidance (OC). The main question of the article is to elaborate considerations about to what extent the methodological dynamic realized in the collective guidance can contribute with the understanding of the research and scientific writing process in the Maester’s thesis. This study appears from the determinations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) to the formation of new researchers in shorter deadlines, which has put pressure on the alignment of research more and more to the market demands, in addition to highlighting the intricate relationship between mentor and mentee in the process of knowledge’s writing and production. This context requires us to pay more attention to the guidance processes, making them collective, considering that they allow the student to exercise their ability to expose, justify and clarify their research proposals. This process is joined by teachers of the same area and research line of the program. For theoretical reasoning, we rely on Gramsci (2001), Alvarenga (2011), Bianchetti and Machado (2012) and Severino (2012), among others. We believe that this discussion has the potential to contribute for the debate on the researcher’s formation, considering that the popular fight for the right to public education and better social and collective life is the key-element to the starting point of the knowledge production in the postgraduate courses of the human areas.
