The present article treats of diversity from the principle of democratic management and of the issues that focus on the valuation of differences within the school through instruments such as: participation, work and collective decisions and autonomy. By means of bibliographical research and documentary deals with the issue of diversity and your relationship with the brazilian educational policy, highlighting the challenges for the democratic management of education and the school. It is concluded that are still required practices that value and promote diversity, without perspective esquecermosda of equality, such as compensatory policies and affirmative action, since these policies emerge new challenges, especially for educators and school managers, because your implementation implies the need to review the role of education, the school and its professionals in the face of diversity.
