The article presents the results of a research that aimed to understand the conceptions of democratic management and its relations with the management and shared management models. The theoretical basis was based mainly on studies by Ball (2001), Libâneo (2007), Lück (2006) and Paro (2010a; 2010b). Based on historical-dialectical materialism, the research was developed in the Municipal Education Network of Itapetinga-BA, having as subjects of investigation school pedagogical coordinators, managers and technical coordinators of the Municipal Department of Education. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and confronted with bibliographic and documentary research in the light of the chosen method. The research showed that the conceptions about democratic management have been revealed as the target of the ideological influences of the ruling class, under neoliberal bases, in a discourse that convinces, causes estrangement and contradictions in the educational context.
