This paper analyzes the mobilization presented by teachers in teaching in Education of Youth and Adults in small cities from a region called Maciço de Baturité, located in Ceará – Brazil. The ideas of Bernard Chariot (2000), about the relationship to knowledge, Jessé de Souza (2023), about the impediments to access to citizenship, and Robert Castel (2013), about men and women who remain on the margins of the society, were used to guide the reflection on that process of mobilization. Data of the research were constructed through a semi-structured interview with three teachers, who, in the way of a conversation, described situations rich of meanings involving their teaching practices. As a result, the mobilization of teachers seems to be basically centered on the pleasure of teaching young, adult, and elderly people to read and write, almost as a retribution and a gratitude for the opportunity they received from their own parents and relatives. Thus, teachers develop practices that always contemplate the arduous reality of their students, considering the affections as the basis for knowing how to teach and learn in Education of Youth and Adults.
