In this study, we attempt to answer the following question: how can the participation of teachers in a training course that provides didactic/methodological improvement expand their conceptions of research as an educational principle? Ten teachers from a continuing education course participated in this qualitative, exploratory investigation. Data were obtained from an online questionnaire and were analyzed with the use of Discursive Textual Analysis. Three categories emerged from the data analysis: (i) wider understanding of research; (ii) valorization of students’ questions in the classroom, (iii) mobilization of students’ involvement in the research process in the classroom context. There are indications of the potential of training courses that, theoretically and practically, approach research as both an educational principle and a means to enable teachers to reflect on research as a comprehensive way of teaching and learning.
