The article contains a summary of the most important data collected by a survey realized by the Women's Council of the State of São Paulo, about 38 nurseries and day care centers in operation at private enterprises in São Paulo. The main objectives were to gather information and to makean analysis about these day care centers problems, in order to subsidize a Council's policy directed to the governmental departments that are responsible for their inspection and to propose a change in the present labor legislation that regulates this matter.
