The study discusses a survey on 79 schools in the State of São Paulo, about headmasters' and teachers' attitudes and activities concerning drug abuse. 50 schools (63,3%) have answered the questionnaire and 44,8% of them have informed some activity had been done concerning "drugs" in theprevious two years. Most of these activities had been sporadic, and promoted by medical, religious, police or philanthropic institutions. Teachers of Sciences, Portuguese language and Brazilian socio-political organization also said they frequently discussed the subject in the classroom, though only a small percentage of them had received specific training for that. These data are discussed in the light of recent theories on drug-abuse prevention at school.
