The article discusses the education of children with regard to the paradox between the legal system, the speeches and the reality experienced by children and their families, based on research that sought to understand how some groups of families of the popular media of a neighborhood the urban periphery of the city of Rio Grande, structure their practices and logics of care / education of young children. The study indicates that the cultural logic family is associated with a ‘moral obligation’ in the family does not want to delegate, but sharing and socializing, along with children, it presents the possibility of thinking beyond the existing models of daycare and preschools. Finally, discusses the relationships between families and schools and other institutions, because this has been the only educational policy experienced by families.
