Abstract

QUEVEDO-CAMARGO, GLADYS  and  PINHEIRO, LUZIA ALESSANDRA. ETHICS IN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT: FROM THE TEACHER’S ATTITUDE TO THE ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENT. Est. Aval. Educ. [online]. 2021, vol.32, e08641.  Epub July 21, 2021. ISSN 1984-932X.  https://doi.org/10.18222/eae.v32.8641.

This is a reflective and proposition essay that focuses on the articulation between an ethical perspective and the classroom assessment of additional languages. The terms ethics and moral are discussed, and the development of assessment over the centuries is presented to help us understand its historical relativism. The creation of codes of ethics and guidelines for good assessment practices is contextualized and, in an attempt to go beyond the philosophical and behavioural concepts of ethics and justice, we aimed at materializing such concepts by means of the compliance of the basic principles of assessment in the design and/or use of classroom assessment instruments by language teachers.

Keywords : ETHICS; ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING; LANGUAGE LEARNING; ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENTS.
