SANTOS, EDMILSON SANTOS DOS; REIS, MARIA DA CONCEIÇÃO DOS; SILVA, YURE GONÇALVES DA  y  RESENDE, MÁRIO. BLACK STUDENTS’S ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION: THE CASE OF UFCSPA. Est. Aval. Educ. [online]. 2023, vol.34, e09938.  Epub 29-Dic-2023. ISSN 1984-932X.  https://doi.org/10.18222/eae.v34.9938.

The present study seeks to understand the impact of affirmative action policies on higher education. In this sense, three objectives guided the study: to evaluate the distribution of black students per course at the Universidade Federal de Ciências da Saúde de Porto Alegre; to compare the percentage of black students enrolled per course with the group’s proportion in the state of Rio Grande do Sul; and to analyze the distribution of black students per course in wide competition. Data were submitted to descriptive statistics and revealed an increase in participation of black students in all courses and at levels higher than the participation of this population in the state and that the end of Law n. 12.711/2012 will have an immediate impact of reducing enrollments of black students.

Palabras clave : AFFIRMATIVE ACTION; QUOTA SYSTEM; HIGHER EDUCATION.
