We talk about women issues in relation to education. Through examples taken from daily newspapers and the observation of life itself, besides some authors' words which have been standing out not only in the conceptualization and discussion of gender, but also in issues related to human rights, the prejudice against women is shown and demonstrated with negative repercussions which begin inside the family, continue at school education and spread into society as a whole. We wonder what the proper place/field of the problem should be; it is stated the importance of the concept of gender, school is viewed as the responsible for "building up" the masculine and the feminine genders, but we do not intend to put the blame on the teachers for mistakes or omissions, but to call their attention to possible "stereotypes" still found in a lot of Brazilian schools, formed mostly by professionals of the feminine gender.
