In this paper we analyzed the implementation of the process of principal's selection through elections in Ponta Grossa, a town from the state of Paraná/Brazil. Initially we hatched some more theoretical considerations concerning the different forms of principal's selection. Then we developed a more specific reflection about the study object that we intended to investigate. To achieve that, we analyzed the legislation that regulates the elections for principal in the town district of Ponta Grossa, as well as we hatched considerations about the process itself of the school leaders' selection. Finally, we pointed out the aspects that need improvement and the advantages of principal's selection by free and direct vote election.
