Although it's recent, the National System of Evaluation of Basic Education (SAEB) is consolidated. Amplifying its actuation area, SAEB has been looking for answers to the educational problems of the country, doing studies and researches about the factors associated to the evaluated students' performance. The SAEB expands its action by means of Technical Cooperation Agreement with the different Brazilian states, so that those could organize its own evaluation system. When this evaluation net is consolidated, we discuss the need of taking to school some of the conceptual and methodology resources that were accumulated during those years, so that the evaluation can be effectively appropriated to the educational community. The evaluation is seen as a process where the dialogue between the schools and education system must prevail over, avoiding assertive and one side description. Managers, teachers, students, parents, community members should become active subjects in the evaluation dialogues.
