We have observed that the main arguments used by many teachers, students and books to justify the necessity of experimental activities in classrooms are based on a overreached conception of Science, that could be called indutivistic-verificationistic. In this work, we discuss this conception and try to offer an alternative answer to the problem of the function of the experiments in teaching science, based on the kuhnian vision of the scientific development. Some implications for Science teaching are also discussed.
