This article proposes a discussion on what public policies consist of, more specifically educacional policies, and how they influence the construction of the concept of citizenship. The text indicates that for each State model there is a corresponding model of education, since the educational project promotes an image of the man and of the world that one strives to reach or form. Therefore, talking about educational policies implies in taking into consideration that it is linked with the construction of the project of a society and of citizenship. Understanding which educational policies are currently guiding the education helps to enlighten the power relations that are established between the State and society, as well as the kind of person that is being developed by such policies.
