Abstract

FERREIRA, Ana Rafaela Correia  and  VIEIRA, Guilherme Silva. Adult and Youth Education Mathematics class notebook: perspectives of teaching algebra. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2022, vol.27, e225615. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v27e2022a5615.

This article refers to the teaching of Algebra in Adult and Youth Education of the Young and Adult Elementary Education Project – 2nd segment of the Pedagogical Center of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. We want to think about how Algebra was taught in a class of this course, offered from 2012 to 2014, through the pedagogical practices recorded by the teachers. For this, we take as a source the class notebooks of the Mathematics area of the teachers who worked in these courses. These notebooks are the means through which teachers describe their classes and the pedagogical interventions adopted. It is important to mention that the teachers who work in these courses are scholarship holders, undergraduate students, and oriented by professors from the University. Results show that Arithmetic and Algebra appear interrelated way, demonstrating that the use of recursive and non-recursive sequences can be an interesting practice to introduce Algebra to Adult and Youth Education students.
