Abstract

RODRIGUES, Denise Simões  and  OLIVEIRA, Ivanilde Apoluceno de. “SOCIAL FABRICATION OF INDIVIDUALS” AND EDUCATION: A CRITICAL DIALOGUE BETWEEN CORNELIUS CASTORIADIS AND PAULO FREIRE. e-Curriculum [online]. 2020, vol.18, n.3, pp.1086-1102.  Epub Dec 01, 2020. In this paper, we analyze education as a project of power, reflecting critically on the construction of “social fabrication” and the possibility of its deconstruction under the concept of autonomy by Cornelius Castoriadis and by Paulo Freire. What is the role of education and curriculum in the construction of this social fabrication of individuals? This is one of the issues raised by problematizing the theme. Our paper is a bibliographical research which emphasizes the dialogue between Cornelius Castoriadis and Paulo Freire. From the results it stands out that the authors point towards a creative, humanistic, and critical education that enables praxis and social change, breaking away from educational practices that fabricate alienated individuals, thus overcoming fatalist ideologies about society and the world.

Keywords : Cornelius Castoriadis; Paulo Freire; Autonomy; Social fabrication.
