Abstract

This paper presents data obtained from field research, developed in a focus group mode, intending to discuss existential anguish and issues on human finitude as part of the high school curriculum of a public school in the West region of the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Five meetings with ten teachers who work in a high school took place, lasting 60 minutes each meeting. This research has a qualitative nature and the interpretation of the data followed the hermeneutics approach. This work discusses the definition of school curriculum and its role in the school context. Also, it relates teaching practices with the curricular disciplinary contents applied in daily school activities. From the reports of the high school teachers, experiences and actions related to human finitude and existential anguish were identified.
