Abstract

SOUSA, Kasandra Conceição Castro de  and  AMARAL FILHO, Fausto dos Santos. Mith, ideology and utopia in the Brazilian indigenist schooling education policy. Práxis Educativa [online]. 2022, vol.17, e2218352.  Epub Mar 10, 2022. ISSN 1809-4309.  https://doi.org/10.5212/praxeduc.v.17.18352.035.

In this text, a theoretical review of the concepts of ideology, utopia and mith was made. The aim was to identify these cultural phenomena in discourses which have guided Brazilian indigenist schooling education policies (Política Educacional Escolar Indigenista Brasileira - PEEIB) throughout history and the role performed. The proposed question was: What do ideology and utopia mean in the scientific discourses that guide the PEEIB? Which place does mith occupy today and which place may occupy in this scenery? Grounded on documental and bibliographical research, two discourses that assumed the protagonism related to PEEIB throughout its history were identified. The conclusion is that one is ideological and the other is utopical, whereas mith needs to be disclosed to the non-indigenist society so that PEEIB stimulates cultural exchanges.

Keywords : Ideology and utopia; Mith; Indigenist policy.
