Abstract

BUENO, Mara Lucineia Marques Correa  and  SOUZA, Kellcia Rezende. Intercultural Border Schools Program and the reality of Brazil/Paraguay: a regional integration policy for the border. J. Pol. Educ-s [online]. 2021, vol.15, e74213.  Epub Sep 22, 2021. ISSN 1981-1969.  https://doi.org/10.5380/jpe.v15i0.74213.

This article aims to understand the Border Cross-Border Schools Program (PEIF) as a policy for the regional integration of Mercosur from the reality of Brazil and Paraguay in the period from 2012 to 2015. For this, through a qualitative approach, Bibliographic research was carried out. , documentary and in the field. The documentary sources consisted of the Action Plans instituted by SEM and the normative productions that regulated the PEIF. For the collection of field data, it was decided to carry out semi-structured interviews with former PEIF coordinators within the scope of the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD). The results point to two perspectives. On the one hand, PEIF was a unique program, considering in its proposal a specific look at the characteristics of schools located in the border regions based on a systematic and periodic training process, on the other, the intention consolidating itself as a supranational regional integration policy has not materialized.
