This study is part of a broader bibliographic research in which we focus on problematic points of distance learning in higher education in the Brazilian context. The outlined perspective addresses the issue of the vertiginous expansion of distance education, which since the beginning of the 21st century has followed the precepts of international organizations, favoring the privatization of the system. We point to the risks of this model in relation to the development of human capital as the basis for sustaining society.
