Resumen

This article includes the meaning of school subjects and the construction of school knowledge after asserting teaching as the focus of didactics. It also discusses what happens in teachers’ education courses for elementary school by the analysis of data from researches about the Didactics subject, found in teacher education courses in Brazilian universities, and some data about many teaching difficulties of novice/beginners teachers. Some items were priviledged in the researches: didactics subject menus and curriculum, teaching plans, teaching in school classrooms, didactics subject speech, didactics’ specificity. Some reflections are presented to help facing the problems that happen in this area, based on the analysis of data in the research, defending the urgency to retake the central role of this subject as a needed part of courses for teachers’ education.
