Abstract

UNGLAUB, Tânia Regina da Rocha. Sons de brasilidade na educação de educadores catarinenses. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2012, vol.12, n.36, pp.345-363. ISSN 1981-416X.

Civic and patriotic songs have been present in daily school life during the past decades of30 to 40, they were obligatory in order to arouse feelings of Brazilianness in the population of this country. The Education Course sought to stimulate the future teachers to practice the civic songs in order to turn them into trainers of the new Brazilian citizen. This way, this article attempts to make considerations on traces of a school culture expressed in lyrics and scores of school songs found in notebooks of students in the Institute of Education of Florianopolis and scores in single sheets composed by students and teachers of that course. Songs sung by protagonists who seated on the school benches in that education al institution were also analyzed, as well as the program of the Orpheonic Song subject. The songs are filled with meanings and representations of reality, in the sense used by Roger Chartier (1990). These representations and meanings are part of the history construction of a particular school culture in which music would be strategically used to awaken civic and patriotic feelings. The information presented in this work was conceded by respondents who have experienced that moment in history (1937-1945). This article is the partial result of a research of a doctoral thesis, which researched on the use of music in schools of Santa Catarina during the ‘Estado Novo’ period.
