Abstract

MATTOS, SANDRA MARIA NASCIMENTO DE; MATTOS, JOSÉ ROBERTO LINHARES DE  and  SILVA, ROMARO ANTONIO. Federal Institutes and offer of teacher training courses: advances, challenges and possibilities. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.75, pp.2052-2078.  Epub Dec 26, 2022. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.22.075.ao11.

The present work arises from the researchers' motivation to analyze the advances and challenges of the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology in Brazil - IFs, after 13 (thirteen) years of its creation, performed by Law n.º 11.892 of December 2008. The outline of the work deals with meeting 20% of the offer of vacancies for teacher training courses, bringing an analysis of the percentage reached by each IF, as well as data that reflect the dropout and retention rates, state policies to encourage the permanence in courses and data on access and egress policies in each IF. The goal of the research was to analyze the return to society, of the institutional mission provided for by law, of teachers who can contribute to the country's deficit. The methodology used to carry out the research was the analysis of data of a qualitative nature in a bibliographic investigation. The results demonstrate the challenges for the provision of teacher training courses in Brazil, showing that the Federal Network for Professional, Scientific and Technological Education is far from the minimum service provided by law, even a decade after its creation. It is expected that this work will generate reflections on the offer of teacher training courses, which will contribute to our studies with the same objective and contribute to public policies for the public under analysis.
