The article deals with the evaluation of teaching performance, through its approach in educational planning and in the regulation, it receives in the state of Tocantins. The objective is to analyze conceptions and initiatives that guided and/or regulated the evaluation of the work of teachers at national and regional level, considering their perspectives in the sense of favoring processes of permanent professional development. This is a study based on a literature review and documentary research, consulting, above all, the educational planning (national and regional) and the Normative Instruction (IN-TO 002/2017) that regulates the evaluation within the scope of the state of Tocantins. The ongoing institutional actions are not oriented towards professionalization and teaching autonomy. In the plans analyzed, there is a set of indications that prioritize the results of the learning tests and the participation of the family in the evaluation of the teaching performance. The regulation in the state of Tocantins institutes an assessment process by management, peers and self-assessment, without specifying the focus of the assessments, the teacher's involvement in the construction of the instruments and the flows with repercussions of the results.
