Abstract

EICHNER, Ânthony Scapin; CORREA, Marcos Britto  and  FERREIRA, Liliana Soares. High School Reform in Rio Grande do Sul and the overexploitation of the workforce: the continuity, despite appearances. Rev. Diálogo Educ. [online]. 2023, vol.23, n.79, pp.1599-1613.  Epub Feb 22, 2024. ISSN 1981-416X.  https://doi.org/10.7213/1981-416x.23.079.ao15.

This article discusses the Secondary Education Reform, carried out from Law nº 13,415 of 2017, and its implementation in Rio Grande do Sul. It aims to analyse, based on the Secondary Education Reform in the state education network of Rio Grande do Sul, the relations between the formation of secondary students and the current stage of capitalist accumulation and its consequences for the reproduction of the workforce in Brazil. Starting from Historical-Dialectic Materialism, the research was proceeded with documental analysis and bibliographical study. It appears that the "New" High School is related to the current stage of capitalist accumulation as it is intended for the reproduction of the workforce in Brazil. It seeks to train workers with an individualistic and meritocratic ideology, adjusted to the overexploitation of the workforce that occurs in Brazil.

Keywords : New High School; Workforce; Overexploitation; Dependent capitalism.
