The purpose of this paper is to rethink the ways we have been living and thinking about the emotions in the contemporary period, based on the analyses and critiques raised by Michel Lacroix in his book The Cult of Emotion, all this in resonance with Deleuzian writings with Espinoza, especially in that which refers to the relations between ideas and affects. Working with the affirmation of the body as a power of thought amidst an Ethics which assist us in conducting a selection of the affects of joy and sadness, inquiring the modes of existence and searching for criteria which may operate, in a demanding and prudent fashion, a selection of one's own joys as well, ever keeping as attraction point the relations between the act of thinking and the creation of one's own life. This course also places us among issues which concern the potential of education as a place for both meeting and learning.
