This work is on the presence of the heraclitic thought in the famous speech by the Jesuit priest Antônio Vieira entitled “The Tears of Heraclitus”. This speech was made as a request from the Queen of Sweden, Cristina Alexandra, founder of the academy “The Arcadia Romana” in 1674 recently accommodated in Italy, seat of the rhetorical-philosophical clash on the following matter: Debating with the also Jesuit priest Jerônimo Catâneo, to whom the defense of Democritus fell, Vieira produces an essay of strong philosophical content and rare literary beauty.
