SANTOS, Rogério Lopes. The christian criticism of epicurean pleasure. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2019, vol.33, n.67, pp.167-196.  Epub Aug 30, 2021. ISSN 1982-596X.  https://doi.org/10.14393/revedfil.v33n67a2019-46815.

The present article aims to present and analyse the criticisms and misrepresentations promoted by the Christian Apologetics about the Philosophy of Epicurus, more specifically the part of this Philosophy concerning the enjoyment of pleasures. Therefore, we choose four of the various Christian Apologetics who criticized and misrepresented the Philosophy of Epicurus, namely: Titus Flavius Clemens (c. 150 - c. 215), whom we know as Clement of Alexandria; Justin of the Nablus (or Justin Martyr) (c. 100/114 - c. 162/168); Saint Ambrose (c. 340 - c. 397) and Saint Jerome (c. 347 - c. 407).

Keywords : Epicureanism; Cyrenaism; Christian Apologetics; Hedonism.
